Sir Jackie Stewart believes Sebastian Vettel not a great driver yet ? Formula 1 news

Former Formula 1 champion Sir Jackie Stewart has stated in an interview with BBC that Sebastian Vettel of the Red Bull Racing team has still a long way to go before he becomes a legend.

Stewart took part in Formula 1 competitions from 1965 to 1973 and has been given the nickname ?flying scot?. He is the winner of three world drivers? championships. In United States, he is famous for being the colour commentator for racing broadcasts on television and also as the spokesperson for Ford. He has the honour of receiving Sports Illustrated magazine?s sportsman of the year award and BBC?s very own sports personality of the year award.

In a recent interview with BBC, he had a few comments over Vettel who is emerging as one of the favourite in Formula 1 world.

Speaking about the fact that the Red Bull Racing team is sporting the quickest car at present time, he said, ?If you've got a superior car, it's relatively easy to win the championship. To really show you're one of the greatest, you have to deliver when you haven't got the best machinery. I have the highest respect for Sebastian, but he could not have achieved what he has without the Red Bull design chief Adrian Newey factor.?

Vettel having won the championship both in 2010 and 2012 is set to become the champion for the third straight time in 2012 as he leads the drivers? championship grid presently. He is also the youngest ever driver to win double championship at an age of 24 years and 98 days. He holds the record of earning the highest championship points in the same season. He has also set the record for starting most races from the front row. He is also only two race wins away from breaking Stewart?s own record of twenty seven race victories in a career. Regarding the rumours that Vettel will be moving to Ferrari in 2014, Stewart said it is too early and will be a mistake to take such a decision.

?I'm a big Sebastian Vettel fan,? added Stewart. ?He completely dominated the Korean Grand Prix and drove in such a mature fashion for a 25-year-old. It was more than impressive.?
